I send you a quick note of apology. You wrote me a letter on September 25, 1979 which I read and enjoyed.

I have this week read your letter again and have been astouned by how much more significantly it reads now than then.

I have not, as you suggested, "simply filed this letter with (my) wastebasket." I will keep it. It's good thinking.

If I pass through New Paltz any time in the near future, I will try to telephone you and perhaps we can catch a drink together.

我并没有照您说的“读完这封信就把它扔进字纸篓”。我要把它保存起来，因为信中所述的思想十分之好。
